Random (no, really it is)

Where has all the months gone? I can’t tell you! the days at work are flying past me.
Passed my first two insurance exams, am chuffed with myself cos i definitely didn’t put in the 200 recommended study hours – don’t think i even put in 20. the night i was supposed to be studying i was on facebook & msn chatting with Ess and Lou, ha!!
Work is getting busy again but you really have to distance yourself from the fact that people are injured or you end up bringing that home with you and dwelling on it. I know some of the people I work with do that and I think they’re just nuts.

At Easter I went to see an opera (how pretentious I know) but OMG it was amazing. It was called Turandot. (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Turandot for the story) Nessun Dorma (which Paul Potts & Pavarotti sang) is sung at the end and its just lovely. Its sung in Italian but there was surtitles so you could get the gist of what was going on LOL

Looking forward to this bank holiday weekend. Even though I’ve to work the b/h monday its going to be a lovely weekend!! Friday night – heading out for drinks with my team, just local I think. Saturday I am going to see Beyoncé with the girls. We’re gonna make a night of it – dinner & drinks beforehand, then drinks afterwards :) and Sunday heading out for lunch with S and friends (has to be lunch cos i’m in work on monday) can’t wait!!!
ok off to watch britain’s got talent

Randomness

Its official I am ADDICTED to amazon.co.uk!! I have bought so many DVD’s on it lately its not funny! I bought Sopranos (all seasons cos I didn’t watch it when it was on TV) And after Christmas, I bought another watch when it was the LAST thing I needed!! And with the sterling price you really notice the difference even with the delivery cost! Should I feel guilty that I’d rather buy on line than go to, for example zavvi? But seriously why pay over €100 for something you can get online for €50 odd?!

This year I have made a promise to myself that  I am NOT going anywhere I’ve already been so no Prague, no Sofia, no NYC, no London for me :) I know its a silly resolution but hey!

Can’t believe it Sunday afternoon – how come the weekend goes by so fast?! For those of you waiting for lost to be back tonight, enjoy it!! I couldn’t wait til tonight and I’ve already watched it :)

Off to walk the dog, enjoy your Sunday!!

Are we there yet?!

Seriously how much longer is January going to last?? is it just me or does it seem a bit never ending? Ah i guess i shouldn’t be wishing my life away but seriously it does seem never ending and pay day to me feels like its NEVER gonna come!!! Bleaghhhhh

OK little rant over on to more nicer things!

Firstly: Lost was back in the US last night and I am being very bould and am downloading it now – not waiting for Sky to show it :) Can’t WAIT to see it!!

Secondly: My holiday in September is going to be great! Made a slight change to it yesterday we’re now going to be spending 2 nights in Washington rather than NYC. Seriously its going to be amazing, 9 nights in Orlando, then flying to Vegas for 3 nights and then finally back to Washington for 2 nights :) I CANNOT WAIT!! I really sound like I’m wishing my life away.

I had an excuse for not blogging more often – until Xmas that was – the screen on my laptop cracked and I could hardly see much on it but I got a great laptop as a Xmas present – Dell XPS M1330 and I’m loving it (as much as you can love a computer) seriously its fantastic!

Oh I am now permanent in my job as of yesterday whoo!! Doesn’t change anything much except more benefits like sick pay/pension that I didn’t have access to before…

Anyway gonna head back to my TV and let Lost & House use up all of my broadband speed :)

2009

Belated happy new year!! Can’t believe the last time i wrote anything on this was Halloween! Where the hell did the time go? Haven’t a clue!

I’ve just had a lovely DVD & Duvet day, well half day I was in work this morning but I took a half day. I watched 27 dresses, Mamma mia and about to watch Rent.

I have recorded the Obama inauguration.

Tomorrow my probation period at work is up, really really can’t believe that I started there 6 months ago!! Things were so different this time last year. This time last year I was going to be travelling with work while waiting for my redundant. You know when I think about it I can’t actually believe that I used to stand up in front of people and give presentations and train them on systems, I really can’t. In work I was given a little project by my TL’s boss to show what I do when I get new claims (for those of you who don’t already know I’m a claims handler in an insurance company). I done a powerpoint presentation and my manager was really impressed by it that she passed it on to the senior manager on my floor and he was so impressed by it that he sent it around the other managers and it might be going into the new starter training.. God that sounds like I’m bragging I swear I’m not. Anyhow the point of this at our team meeting last week my manager asked me to present it. We were brought into the big boardroom (for those of you in worked in the big x imagine the big room where we had induction !) and when we got there another team were also there.  I got really really nervous ,started to sweat and my hands were shaken. Do you know what though? My panicking was for NOTHING, we ran out of time at the meeting and I didn’t have to do it but I might have to do it this week instead and i’m terrified!

ooh booking my holiday this week whoo. more on that tomorrow

October 31st

Halloween. I love Halloween, always have! I love fireworks, bonfire, dressing up, sweets (fruit not so much ha) and now I’m older and don’t get sweets / fruit for dressing up I love the history of it all. I love that its an ancient tradition thats still celebrated today and that its international! Times have definitely changed since it was Samhain the celebration of the end of the harvest season. Does any of that make sense? Maybe not, ahh well!

Anyway some highlights from the past few months

I’ve been getting used to my new job and didn’t really feel like blogging in the evenings when I got home. I think I’m FINALLY getting used to insurance and I’m doing well (made bonus 2 months in a row which I’m v happy about - the extra money definitely doesn’t go amiss)

My mum was in hospital for 3 weeks recently. She was admitted with fluid retention as a result of cardiac failure. She’s fine now thank whichever higher power is looking out for her. It was a very stressful time I have to say and not something I want to repeat ever and besides she was only 49 at  the time but she had to cancel her 50th birthday party until she’s feeling better. She got such a fright though and has given up smoking (after over 30 years she just stopped and is doing realy well staying off them so far!) and won’t drink alcohol anymore. The weight is falling off her too and she’s much more active than she has been recently. She has to see a cardiologist next month but hopefully she’ll get the all clear. And to top it off the ulcers on her legs appear to be clearing up too. She has just moved into a little cottage in the city centre, about 5 minutes from where she works and she’s so happy, its great!

The house is coming along really nicely, we got our new blinds yesterday, they’re fabulous. I got walnut wooden ones for the dining rooms, a blonde wooden blinds for the kitchen and then normal linen blinds for the rest of the house, they’re white and stone with little flecks in them, Then for the bathroom got a plain white blind. It makes such a difference to the house I can tell ya!!

Anyway i can’t think of anything more to write so i’m off to get ready to answer the door to the trick or treaters, I’m gonna be a ghost how original eh? White sheets are soooo handy hahahaha

Not that much to say

I know i haven’t written anything in ages but its been a kind of busy time. Since my last post some major things have happened since I got my redundancy, I’m now a homeowner. S and I  moved in about 3 weeks after I was made redundant and we’ve been fairly busy ever since :s

- I did get a new job (admin work for a watch brand) but i wasn’t happy there (for various reasons) and only lasted 2 weeks! So in between painting etc I’ve been jobsearching on the web, going for interviews etc and tomorrow I start a new job (wahoo) for a large insurance company. I won’t have to travel very far to work every day and the place is right beside a great shopping centre (YAY lol) I’m as nervous as anything but hopefully it won’t be so scary.

Anyhow just wanted to get myself back into the habit of typing. Trying to type with gel nails  is not good and I’m not used to them at all. I’m taking them off later on so I can type properly and it won’t feel so weird!

Right am off to do more furniture shopping. We’ve actually got very little left to get we just need to get a small table for the side of the sofa that I can put my laptop on when its not in use and thats all the furniture got for the sitting room.

Hope you all have a nice Sunday :)

6 days to go

Yep that’s all I have left until I am made redundant from work!! Since the last time I blogged, I’ve travelled with work again, that time was to Greenock (Scotland) where i delivered training to 8 students + 2 trainers (EEEEK – twas scary stuff!) Anyway it went quite well but 2 of the students failed their assessment and i had to leave it to another trainer to coach them on what they got wrong cos I was going home on the Friday night and wasn’t going to be back there again. I got home on the Friday night to discover that one of my rabbits had to be put down on the Friday afternoon. He had cancer. He had tumour on his leg which could’ve been amputated but the vet said that it was spreading to the other one and he would’ve been in too much pain. S felt that it was more humane to let him go rather than  make the rabbit suffer anymore. I feel awful and I’m sure you will ask me how we didn’t notice it before then (I’ve been asking myself that alot!) it but we truly didn’t. When I look back now I can see there were some signs – like being lethargic on some days (I just thought he was having an off day or morning cos we all have them) but there was honestly never anything major. I mean he would run around the garden, hop, skip, jump normally, he ate and drank normally so there was never a reason for us to think that there was something wrong with him. So there you go! I done some bawling that night I can tell you! I now only have 1 rabbit who lives in a 3 storey hutch by himself. It seems to be very confusing for him at the moment, he keeps looking around for the other one :( I am sure he’ll be OK soon enough and the dog is trying to keep him company by running around the garden with him – its soo cute to see it :)

Sorry I got distracted there, had to go through a database with one of the trainers who is staying on here. I’ve lost my train of thought so am just going to publish it

Hello again

Yep I’ve slipped again and haven’t written anything in AGES! I was in Sofia again last week with work. It was my last trip there and I was kind of sad saying goodbye to the people I think have become good friends within the last couple of months. They were all great when I was there, so helpful and a really nice bunch to socialise with. When I was there last week I had 24(!!!) students for a systems class. That day was definitely tough but the next day we split the group in half which wasn’t as bad. We ate out every night and had a couple of drinks, I wouldn’t be able to do that constantly here but some of the trainers are still doing it every night out there. I’d be a wreck if I done it for more than one week. Every night I got about 6 hours sleep (if I was lucky) I shouldn’t have done that to myself but at the time it was fun! So while I was in Sofia my team finished up. They were all made redundant while I was away. I am glad in a way that I missed their last day, I probably would’ve cried. As it was I felt a little left out when they were getting their papers. I can’t wait to get mine now. At the moment I haven’t moved desks from where I was and its very lonely. I have too much stuff to move desk for just a couple of weeks so I kinda don’t see the point.

So I would have something to do I volunteered to help out one of the Super user teams. It is using a system I haven’t used in a year and a half but have been delivering training on. It was weird getting used to it again. Earlier this week I was told that my last date would be the 28th of May. I know that team is scheduled to go live in the new centre around the 9th of May so I don’t think I’ll be needed there anymore. At the moment, I am only scheduled for 1 more week of training which isn’t until May but after that I will officially really have NOTHING to do after that.  I’d really prefer not to have to go anywhere and leave ASAP but I guess I have committed myself so I suppose I have to

As I can access my e-mails from home I have asked the training manager if I can start to work from home when I get back from there and she seems to be OK with that but we shall see what happens.

I am already planning what I’m going to do next. Too early to say for definite but I have an interview next Tuesday for training co-ordinator in a customer service training department. I have my fingers and toes crossed for this because even though I’d have to travel into the city centre, the salary scale is very good. So if it all goes to plan, I’ll get my redundancy money and walk straight into another job. The thoughts of an interview is terrifying me :o ( So… anyone got any advice?

S put Toby on a diet while I was in Sofia. Well not a diet as such but he’s reduced his food by ¼ a day. That’s the dried stuff. For Toby’s dinner he gets between ½ and ¾ cup of food and a full chicken breast. Then he only gets 2 biscuits a day. You could nearly eat the biccies yourself. The flavour he’s on at the moment is apple and cinnamon shortbread. They are doggy biccies in case you thought I’d gone loop the loop. Toby usually gets the chicken ones but I thought these would be nice for a change and he loves them :-)

My rabbits are both doing OK. They keep knocking food out to Toby after I feed them, usually a little baby corn or a carrot or something but I find it hilarious watching them kick something out to him. Then he runs off up the garden, in case I try to take it off him, and lies down to eat it. I think it’s the cutest thing ever.

Not planning much yet for the weekend. We’ve to go to Arklow on Sunday to see S’s aunt who is over from Birminghamon holiday. I still need my sleep!! But maybe we’ll go to the cinema. I have to do some shopping, while I’m in the centre, I might even try to pick up a new suit for my interview. Whoo nice shopping haha.

What a sh*t post – sorry! I hope you’ve made it to the end

Have a nice weekend
