26th Sept ‘07 (I couldn’t think of another title)

Firstly I started this post as a comment on Lou’s page and I didn’t want it to take over her page so I decided to finish the comment here. The topic of NY came up because I’ve just booked it for January (Yeah I know, haven’t even been away to Prague yet and the next holiday already booked) Thanks to Gary, Mary Lee, Kate & Jim who all told me what to expect weatherwise in New York in January :-)   I will definitely be bringing warm clothes and if I don’t bring enough I guess I’ll just have to  shop over there! The last time I was in NYC was March ‘06. When we got there, there was still snow on the ground (I don’t think the sun could reach that side of the street!) . It stayed really cold for a couple of days but then (luckily enough)  the day we went took the ferry to the Statue of Liberty and Ellis Island it turned warm (It went to over 10 degrees and I’m not kidding people were going around in T-shirts, I don’t think they could believe their luck!!!)

I just noticed on Lou’s page that I didn’t say where else we could be staying instead of the middle of Times Square. The other hotel that we’re looking at is right beside Ground Zero. Actually I just thought of something is it still being called Ground Zero or are more and more people referring to it as the WTC site? I have no idea!

Anyhoo back to Dublin. I am sitting at my desk in work with my Starbucks’s Americano writing this and attempting the Irish times crossword (Only the Simplex – the caffeine hasn’t kicked in as yet!) Monday and Tuesday are very busy for me because of all the new starters we are now getting weekly. I just know that today is going to be a quiet day for me. That’s not exactly a good thing when you can just see the hours until home stretching out in front of you and its a looong time from 08:45 to 16:00 when you’ve got very little to do. At least I remembered my Ipod today :)

Hallo again

I’ve just noticed that every time I go to write this I have to start with an apology for not keeping this up to date . So apologies again, I’ll try harder in future (well we’ll see)

So I spent a few days in London last week, it was fantastic! We only had 2 full days but I seen more of the city than I ever have before. Was so lucky with the weather too, the day we went on the tour bus was warm + sunny which made for great photos which I will try to upload at some stage. We were gonna go on the Eye but there was about 200 people in front of me in the queue for tickets and I didn’t have the patience to wait. I knew I shoulda have booked them beforehand! Ahh well there’s always next time :)

My mum looked after Toby while we were away and this time he didn’t pine for us or get sick which was fantastic but you’d swear I’d been away for a year because of the greeting that he gave when we arrived home!

I’ve spent the last few days trying to catch up on everything at work and get ready for more new starters etc so its been a wee bit busy :( And in the evening I’ve been messing around on my new toy – S bought me a laptop on Monday with Vista and I’ve just been trying to get used to it, so far, so good though!

I know I’m just back but the next break away is already booked – Prague in November. I can’t explain it but Prague is definitely my most favourite city in the wholest world (!) I think its an amazing place and I’ve been around 10 times already in the past 4 years. I haven’t been there in about a year and its like I have withdrawal symptoms from it – Kidding, I’m not quite that bad about it

Quiet time

I’d like to apologise for not blogging for over a week!

I knew when I started this that I was going to be crap at keeping it up :(

The past few days have been mental at work.  I work for a multinational company and whenever they bring in new starters I have to do their training plans. The last month has really been crazy when they started to do this weekly instead of fortnightly! I guess they were doing this before the September rush when everyone is back to work after their summer holidays. So while everyone else was having an easy August mine was very very busy :(

As you may have gathered from my friends’ blogs (Nic, Ess & Dave) that the company we work for outsourced our jobs to another multinational. This came into effect from the 1st of Sept. I am kind of drifting along through this. I don’t see any changes happening (apart from getting a  ”new” badge) just yet so I am not worrying just now! You know I tend to do that (I think its how I manage change) and then one day it’ll hit me and I’ll probably start to panic. Who knows what the next year will bring anyway?!

So at the moment I am just sitting at my desk wondering what I am supposed to do next here today. I shouldn’t be saying this but I really feel like I am being paid to do nothing.

Anyhoo, next week I am going to London for 4 days with my fiancé and his parents. My mum is going to look after the puppy and my 2 bunnies. Even though its a quiet time in work I am really looking forward to not having to get up at 6AM !!!
